Howdy all,

I know everyone is probably pretty choked that the Birch Fall Classic is a no go, but fret not! We’re planning a Club Adventure Ride in the Brandon Hills for the day which would have been Birch: Saturday, September 24.
For those of you who’ve raced in Brandon the trails need no introduction, but for those of you who haven’t, they’re essentially river trails, but on a larger scale. There’s no killer climbs like “Long & Hard” at Tinker or the Camel at Birch, rather the climbs and descents are all on a much smaller and rideable scale. Sort of like the first couple km of Burr Oak going counterclockwise, except you’re constantly going up and down, but never for more than 30 seconds max in either direction. Proper good fun.
I’ve spoken with Aaron Check of A&L Cycle in Brandon about getting someone to lead us around the reportedly 70+km of singletrack out there. I haven’t heard a confirmation from him yet, but if he can’t then enough of us know enough of the trails out there that we can ride a few hours easy without riding the same trail twice in the same direction anyway.
The usual terms and conditions apply – we’ll meet at the Tim’s on the corner of the Perimeter and McGillivay at 8 to arrange carpools and arrive in the Hills 10ish.
Soooo… who’s in? No excuses, I know you booked this day off months in advance because of the Fall Classic. Please RSVP to jimothy.benson@gmail.com if you can make it, and if you’re driving let us know how many people and bikes you can fit.
Thanks,
Brother James

The plan for the July 24th Ingolf ride is as follow’s:

We will meet at gas station at Deacon’s corner at 8:00am to pack up the trailer and head out.  Deacons corner is at the corner of Hwy #1 and hwy 207 just east of the east perimeter.  Link to a map here.
We hope to be ready to ride at the trail head by 10:00am.  Please either park under the power line or on the road.  Do not drive all the way in to the parking area by the tracks.  That lot is reserved for the cottage owners.
The ride will be about 2 1/2 hours round trip please bring enough water and calories to keep you going.
After the ride we’ll have a BBQ lunch before heading back.
If you haven’t let us know you are coming please do so at alteregoclub1@gmail.com so we can plan accordingly.
Note in order to participate in this AECC ride you must be a AECC member in good standing.
Hope to see you out

Ingolf Ride

On July 24th the AECC  will be heading out to ride Ingolf.  This is a pretty cool place to ride and an annual destination of the club.   Details will follow closer to the date but the schedule will be similar to our other rides.  If you will be coming please send an email to alteregoclub1 at gmail dot com so we can plan accordingly.

Hope to see you out!

Since we can’t make Ingolf on July 1st and it seems that most people have alternate plan over the weekend we going to postpone the July 1st ride until later in the month.  Once a date is confirmed something will be posted here and sent out.

Great Ride

Had an awesome day at tinker creek.  About 15 people came out to take in the awesome riding tinker has to offer.  An eventful day started with a fall before we left due to a lost screw in  a cleat.  This was followed by a the loss of a rear derailler mid way through the ride.  Special thanks to James for giving up his bike and taking the broken bike back a few km.  To cap the day off on the way home we had a blow out on the van!

A huge thanks to James for use of his yard and riding with along with fellow tinker creek riders Kevin and Alf.

June 11 MTB ride

We are going to ride the Tinker Creek trails near Morden MB.  These are the famed trails of the Morden back 40 race.  We will be meeting at the Esso station at the corner of McGillvary and the perimeter at 7:45am.  We can arrange possible car pooling at that time and will leave at 8:00am.  We will start riding at a location about 7 miles south of Morden where we will do 2 out and back rides that will be between 1 and 1 1/2 hrs each with a short break back at the cars in between.  A BBQ will follow the ride before we head home.  There are no washrooms facilities at the trail head.

If you are planning on attending please email alteregoclub1 at gmail dot com to let us know.

Hope to see you out!

Ride Date Change

I didn’t realize June 19th was father’s day so I’m moving the ride to June 11th.  Location and more information to come.

Grand Beach Ride

Great turnout today at Grand Beach.  Weather turned out to be perfect.  Thanks for everybody for coming out!

As promised the AECC will holding a series of Adventure rides this summer.  Once a month we’d like to head out to a different destination around Manitoba.  Our first ride will be this weekend on Saturday May 28th at Grand Beach.  We will be meeting at the trail head at Grand Beach at 9:30 am.  If you haven’t ridden there before follow the signs to the camp ground.  Just past the park gates you’ll see a sign on the right pointing you to the cross country ski trails.  Follow that road till it ends at the parking lot.

Grand Beach is a great place to ride if you haven’t been there before.  Plenty of fast double track and really fun single track.  As per all AECC rides pace will be moderate and nobody will be left behind.  We are out for a fun ride!

We’ll ride for about 2 hours followed by a BBQ lunch.

Future adventure ride dates will be :

June 19th – TBA

July 1st  – Ingolf

August 21st – TBA

Sept 18th  – TBA
Locations and details will be announced closer to the dates.  If you have any idea’s of place to go let us know at alteregoclub1 at gmail dot com.
Hope to see you out there this weekend!
