Howdy all,
I know everyone is probably pretty choked that the Birch Fall Classic is a no go, but fret not! We’re planning a Club Adventure Ride in the Brandon Hills for the day which would have been Birch: Saturday, September 24.
For those of you who’ve raced in Brandon the trails need no introduction, but for those of you who haven’t, they’re essentially river trails, but on a larger scale. There’s no killer climbs like “Long & Hard” at Tinker or the Camel at Birch, rather the climbs and descents are all on a much smaller and rideable scale. Sort of like the first couple km of Burr Oak going counterclockwise, except you’re constantly going up and down, but never for more than 30 seconds max in either direction. Proper good fun.
I’ve spoken with Aaron Check of A&L Cycle in Brandon about getting someone to lead us around the reportedly 70+km of singletrack out there. I haven’t heard a confirmation from him yet, but if he can’t then enough of us know enough of the trails out there that we can ride a few hours easy without riding the same trail twice in the same direction anyway.
The usual terms and conditions apply – we’ll meet at the Tim’s on the corner of the Perimeter and McGillivay at 8 to arrange carpools and arrive in the Hills 10ish.
Soooo… who’s in? No excuses, I know you booked this day off months in advance because of the Fall Classic. Please RSVP to jimothy.benson@gmail.com if you can make it, and if you’re driving let us know how many people and bikes you can fit.
Thanks,
Brother James
